We rented bicycles at the hotel and paid a bit extra to take them up the River with us and then rode back 29 km to Bingen from Goar. Also we had a wonderful tour of the castle in Goar. 6. 0 There was nothing to attract us to the town, but we used it... There was nothing to attract us to the town, but we used it as the base for our Rhine trip. The KD boats were excellent value, and we took the morning regular boat as far as Boppard, and then the afternoon boat back to Bingen. We would certainly recommend the KD company, and the Rhine gorge, but it would be possible to use any town as a base. Bingen is a lovely place to stay with quite a few nice... Bingen is a lovely place to stay with quite a few nice restaurants. The promenade is a pleasure to walk along and admire the Rhine and there are frequent ferries across the river to Rudesheim.

We really liked this hotel as a great base for exploring this picturesque section of the Rhine. Note the ferry travels at a better, steadier pace than the hotel boats that seem to zip through by comparison. The town railway station is close by so it was very convenient for getting to the start of our daily walks further down the valley. We would certainly use this hotel again. staff are very knowledgeable about the local area and go that little extra to make the stay a good one Show less

We used Bingen as a base to cycle along the Rhine Cycleway. Richard Hounsell United Kingdom The museum was excellent. The museum was excellent. The views of the Rhein and the vineyards were lovely. We had a delicious meal at the family run restaurant, Geschowellen Herz:. traditional German food was served in generous helpings ( we chose venison and wild boar ragout) the salads were crisp, the pine nuts freshly roasted and the oyster mushrooms perfectly cooked. We didn't have time to hike or bike nearby but it looked unspoilt countryside That second to last stop on the Rhine cruise with the last...
