Having stayed in many 5 star resorts around south east asia and the US we were underwhelmed because of the lack of opulence in the lobby, restaurant and bar areas. No floral displays, no flowers on tables, no water feature. For a luxury resort one would have expected fresh fruit and flowers in the rooms but that was not the case. The rooms were very tastefully decorated however, and quite roomy. Lack of internet or cell reception in rooms is disappointing. All in all we had a very good experience but do feel it is overpriced. We rated everything as excellent and if you are looking for a fabulous unpretentious five star experience then Lizard is a great location. The route is entirely contained within the county of Clear Creek. This highway forms half of the Mount Evans Scenic Byway, running from the summit of Mount Evans to the junction with SH 103 at Echo Lake Park, about 13 miles (21 km) south of Idaho Springs, the nearest municipality to SH 5. Because of its mountainous route, SH 5 is closed seasonally when snow clearance becomes excessively difficult, usually from Labor Day to Memorial Day. During the warmer months the road is open 24 hours a day. A toll (or "park fee") is charged, though technically the toll is only necessary for the use of the parking lot at the summit between 8 A.
